Outlook 2018: Europe & CEE Investment Briefing

Outlook 2018: Europe & CEE Investment Briefing, MÜPA Budapest, Komor Marcell u. 1., Budapest, Hungary

Investment flows into real estate in Central and Eastern Europe have been high in 2017 and might exceed the €13 bn cyclical peak reached in 2007 before the crisis.

Strong economic growth, well above that of Western Europe, is boosting optimism about the region’s prospects and attracting more foreign investors. What are the prospects for the year ahead? To what extent are new investors from Asia and South Africa replacing the first wave of investors from Europe and the US? Which countries, cities and sectors are they likely to favour? Domestic investors have been more active recently: are they at an advantage or do they face a struggle competing with foreign capital? Will the retail sector benefit from economic growth and rising wages? The logistics sector has seen some big ticket-deals: is its growth unstoppable? What, if any, are the clouds on the horizon for CEE markets? Infrastructure has much improved: is there more to be done to support investment? Political stability has been a plus for the Czech Republic. Will political uncertainty in Poland and Hungary be a deterrent?

Mark Robinson, Research Specialist, CEE Colliers International

Árpád Török MRICS, Chief Executive Officer, TriGranit Corporation

Ian Worboys, CEO, P3 Logistic Parks

Bence Vecsey, MRICS, Director, Head of Investment, Hungary Colliers International

The Nordics have been attracting record levels of investment in the last few years, with foreign investors accounting for more than half of all deals. What are the prospects for the region now? Is political uncertainty in continental Europe, particularly with Brexit in the UK and political turmoil in Germany, making the Nordics the ultimate safe haven in Europe now? Will Sweden continue to lead the way? Will there be more competition for assets between domestic and foreign investors? Stockholm is becoming a go-to city: will its success continue or is there a problem with lack of supply? Will Denmark continue to benefit from its Nordic status and proximity to mainland Europe? Given the strong urbanisation trend across the region, will the residential sector continue to offer opportunities? What is the outlook for Norway? Will Finland continue its upward trajectory? How is the logistics sector likely to perform across the region? Come to this time-efficient briefing, hear the views of market experts and the latest market research and get to ask your own questions.

Will political uncertainty and the upcoming elections in Italy deter investors? What are the prospects for rental growth in the office sector in Milan and the other main cities? Will economic recovery boost the retail sector? What about residential? Tourism is increasing at a rapid pace – how is the hotel sector performing? Ten years after the introduction of REITs to Italy, there are only a few companies listed on the Milan stock exchange, but new legislation making REITS eligible for investment plans called PIR, which benefit from tax breaks, could transform the sector.
